Our partner provides a range of courses across three core areas: 1) General English; 2) specialist English for exams including TOEFL, IELTS and Cambridge; and 3) a range of unique English Plus courses which combine language skills with specialist professional subjects, including Business, Finance, Law, Marketing, Digital Media, Art and Film.

The program is delivered on the campus of Concordia College, located in Bronxville, one of the safest and most affluent areas of the city, and only a short train journey from Manhattan.

Program

Age range: 16-25. The active NEW YORK program is for students who want to improve their English but still have plenty of free time outside of class.

Prior to starting a course, you will take a placement test, so that teachers can assess your level of English and place you in an appropriate group.

Kings English courses are built on the foundation of the four core English skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing. Learners are encouraged to participate actively in the process of learning and acquiring the new language, while learner independence is constantly promoted. All school teachers are experienced, native level English speakers, and many are qualified to Masters or PhD level.

Length: 2 – 12 weeks
Lessons per week: 20 (15 hours)
Minimum entry level: beginner
Class size: maximum 15

You’ll have lots of time to explore New York after lessons. These experiences will reinforce the new skills you have been learning in class by allowing you to use your English in the real world. Depending on the Covid-19 situation and regulations at the time of your program attendance, the two weekly activities (included in the price) could be visits to:

  • Manhattan
  • Empire State Building
  • American Museum of Natural History
  • Guggenheim Museum
  • The Metropolitan Museum of Arts
  • 9/11Memorial and Museum

There are other optional activities and excursions which you may join.

Accommodation

Comfortable residential accommodation on the picturesque college campus

The Verbalists Education students will stay in dorm-style residences on the beautiful Bronxville campus of Concordia College. The residences are located 1–5 minutes’ walk from the main campus square where the teaching building and dining halls are situated.

The rooms are twin and triple, with shared bathrooms. There are some single rooms available and their price and availability can be checked once we receive a specific inquiry/application. WiFi (included in price)

The program is delivered on a half-board basis.

Students have the use of at least one common lounge per hall, with a flat-screen TV, microwave and vending machines. The campus offers a host of facilities including cafeterias and restaurants; an athletic center with a gym; squash courts; an art gallery; indoor and outdoor tennis courts; baseball, soccer and softball fields; a performing arts center.

All residence halls are 15 minutes’ walk from the nearest train station, from where it is a 30-minute journey to downtown Manhattan.

Live-in warden provides 24-hour security.
