UK travel rules: end of all testing for vaccinated arrivals; face coverings in schools no longer required – Education Beyond Borders

24-JAN-2022 | The British Government announced today that people arriving in England from abroad will no longer have to take Covid tests if they are fully vaccinated. The changes will be introduced from 4am on 11 February.
That means that all that fully vaccinated students will now have to do, when they travel to the UK, is to verify their status via a passenger locator form. Testing requirements are also being lifted for all children under 18.
UK Travel Rules for Unvaccinated
Travel rules have also been eased for unvaccinated travelers, who will no longer face quarantine and will not have to take a day eight test. However, they will still need pre-departure and day two tests.
Everyone arriving in England, regardless of vaccination status, will still need to fill in a passenger locator form.
Other restrictions also relaxed
As the Covid situation continues to improve in England, the Government is relaxing many other restrictions:
On Thursday, January 20, the requirement for face coverings in schools was removed. Furthermore, from Thursday, January 27, there will be:
- No mandatory face coverings on public transport and in shops;
- Covid status passes will no longer be compulsory at public venues.
It is also likely that the requirement to self-isolate for five or more days following a Covid positive test will end on or before March 24.
The U.K. government sets public health policy for England. The other parts of the UK — Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland — set their own health rules, but said they would adopt the same rules as England for international travel.
