What a great way to learn English! If you want to explore Los Angeles, a hub of glamour and the center of the American film and TV industry, then Verbalists’ active LOS ANGELES Program is ideal for you.
From the iconic Hollywood sign to the beautiful beaches of Santa Monica, you will be sure to enjoy your time in the California sunshine. But that’s not all! You will also get to live the life of an American university student for a short period and experience the benefits of the world-famous UCLA campus.
The active LOS ANGELES Program is delivered by Oxford Spires International and is designed for 13-19 year olds. The program includes full board accommodation, 15 hours of English, and a full program of activities and excursions.
For enrollments made by December 31, 2025, a discount of $300 is granted. Enrollment is considered complete when the deposit (20% of the total program cost) or the full program fee is paid, and a contract with the school is signed.

UCLA Campus
The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is one of the world’s top-ranking universities. Founded in 1919, UCLA is ideally located near Beverly Hills, western Los Angeles. Its elite academic status creates a fun and supportive environment for the Verbalists Language Network students to learn and grow.
The fantastic modern campus allows students to have a taste of American College life, with outstanding facilities, including tennis courts, large swimming pool, basketball courts and astro turf playing fields. The location is perfect for exploring Los Angeles; it is only a short 20 minute journey to the city’s main attractions including Santa Monica, Universal Studios, Hollywood, Disneyland and Downtown LA.

English Course
Teaching and Learning Approach
Oxford Spires emphasizes practical, communicative learning through interactive lessons, real-life scenarios, and project-based tasks. Students work collaboratively to build confidence and apply new skills, supported by experienced teachers, modern learning resources, and continuous assessment that guides individual progress.
Class size is limited to 15 students. Lessons are enjoyable, interactive and are designed to help improve not only knowledge of English but also confidence in using the language.
To determine progress in learning English, each student is tested at the beginning and at the end of the program. Assessment covers reading, listening, speaking, writing, group work, class participation, and overall improvement. At the end of the course, you receive a certificate of attendance indicating the progress you have made.
Summer Schools Excursions and Social Activities
Just outside the campus door is Los Angeles, the entertainment capital of the world. Explore the city famous for theme parks, television and movie studios, theaters, museums and more. Discover the neighborhoods of L.A., which include Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and Melrose. Prefer the outdoors? Los Angeles has some of America’s greatest beaches. Spend your summer discovering everything that Los Angeles can offer. It’s all included in your tuition.
Excursions: Santa Monica, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Grove Complex, Hollywood, Universal Studios, driving tour downtown LA.
Hollywood Sign and Griffith Observatory
What could be a better place to observe the Hollywood Sign than at the famous Griffith Observatory? Perched atop a high hillside overlooking all of Los Angeles, there are few more spectacular views to be found in the city.
Santa Monica Pier
When one thinks of LA, the beach and Santa Monica pier comes to mind. Santa Monica Pier offers a full service amusement park, combined with plenty of restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops, as well as an entertaining arcade with more than 200 games.
Six Flags Magic Mountain
Six Flags Magic Mountain is known as the “Thrill Capital of the World,” the 260-acre theme park features 19 world-class roller coasters and over 100 rides, games and attractions for the entire family and was voted by USA TODAY readers as America’s Best Theme Park.
Accommodation
To experience university life fully, nothing equals living on campus where our students can enjoy convenience and a sense of community. Students eat, sleep and play on the UCLA university campus. That means they have access to some amazing facilities (pool, basketball courts, etc.), including equipped student lounges.
Accommodation is in twin and triple rooms that are part of two-bedroom apartments with private bathrooms & lounge area.
All the residence halls are within a couple minutes’ walk of each other – and classes not much farther away. Along that walk, students enjoy such amenities as palm-tree terraces, cafes, vibrant vistas and recreation centers.
University security is on 24-hour patrol and available to any student that may need assistance.
At UCLA, our young learners will experience nationally acclaimed, award-winning dining facilities and excellent “all you can eat” meals. The program includes full board – breakfast, lunch & evening meals with brunch on Sundays (20 meals per week); money provided for lunches on excursions.
Dates & Prices
Students may start the program on any Sunday between June 28 and August 2. The final program end date is August 9.
Students arrive on campus on Sundays and return home on Sundays (14 nights).

GROUP ENROLMENT – Program with Group Leader
Group Leader – In addition to the care and supervision provided by the school staff, students are also accompanied during their stay by a Group Leader from the Verbalists Education & Language Network.
The program with a Group Leader lasts 2 weeks,starting on July 19 and ending on August 2 (14 nights). Students may extend their program to 3 or 4 weeks, but during the additional weeks they will not be accompanied by our Group Leader, but they will remain under the school’s care and supervision.
Price for the two-week program with a Group Leader: $4,475.
✅ A $300 discount is granted for enrollments completed by December 31, 2025.
Transportation costs — including round-trip airfare and airport transfers in New York — vary depending on the date the airline ticket is purchased. These costs will be provided upon receiving a detailed inquiry, which can be downloaded here.
