Summer Boarding Courses (SBC) is part of Dukes Education, and was founded in 2009. Dukes Education and SBC offer at Eton College the exceptional summer courses, designed by top academics and taught by leading educators.
Academic Approach
At SBC, they go above and beyond the curriculum because they think that learning comes from doing, so our students are challenged to use and demonstrate new abilities in a friendly and encouraging setting.
By combining the university learning format of lectures and workshops, students have the chance to engage with theoretical principles as well as to develop the soft skills required outside of the classroom. SBC puts theory into practice by facilitating new opportunities to inherit key skills such as critical thinking, leadership, communication and teamwork – mirroring what is practiced every day in a professional work setting.
Each student is actively encouraged to take the initiative, think critically, and cooperate with others to solve problems in the classroom under the direction of Dukes’ amazing teachers.
At the end of the course a certificate is presented to each student along with a progress report.
Time to Shine
Every week when the entire school gathers, each student is given the motivating challenge of participating in a group presentation called Time to Shine.
One of the main reasons why this program is of such high quality is that SBC does not quantify achievement through grades and exams but provide students with a group challenge in which they can research a topic, find solutions to real problems and get to showcase their findings to a real audience in a nurturing and encouraging environment.
Time to Shine projects provide students with an opportunity to step out of their comfort zones by providing them with the chance to practice their public speaking skills in front of a larger audience. Students receive recognition and applause from their peers, which helps build confidence in tackling even greater challenges ahead.

Future Scientists
Future Scientists at Eton College is designed for curious minds aged 12–16 who are ready to dive deeper into the wonders of the natural world. From biology and chemistry to physics, you’ll get hands-on with real experiments, test bold ideas, and develop essential scientific skills—sharp observation, smart data analysis, and clear, confident communication.
But this isn’t just another set of lessons. It’s an immersive scientific adventure. You’ll tackle real-world challenges, team up for dynamic investigations, and present your discoveries just like professional researchers. With its blend of theory, experimentation, and creative problem-solving, Future Scientists gives you not only strong subject knowledge but also the critical thinking needed to understand—and shape—the world through science.
Igniting a Passion for STEM
STEM — Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics — comes to life in Future Scientists, an exciting two-week journey for students eager to explore science in greater depth and discover how it connects to real-world challenges. Covering biology, chemistry, and physics, the programme blends hands-on experiments, guided enquiry, and clear, structured explanation—helping you build confidence in designing, testing, and presenting your own investigations.
At its core, this course is about learning to think and work like a real scientist. You’ll plan experiments with care, record data accurately, and interpret your results with a critical and curious mindset. You’ll also dive into recent scientific breakthroughs and debate the ethical and social questions they raise, encouraging you to consider how new discoveries shape society and the environment.
Collaboration is central to the experience. Future Global Leaders
In Future Global Leaders, you’ll build essential leadership abilities—persuasive debating, strategic negotiation, and confident decision-making—while learning to communicate clearly and think critically. Through hands-on activities and collaborative projects, you’ll apply ideas to real-world scenarios and experience the fast-paced dynamics of global leadership. By the end of the course, you’ll have begun shaping the mindset and skills needed to lead effectively in an international context.
Inspiring Leaders for a Globalised World
Future Global Leaders is a program created for students who want to play an active role in shaping tomorrow’s international landscape. Instead of simply learning about global affairs, you’ll step into the mindset of those who navigate them—examining how diplomacy is built, how cooperation is sustained, and how leadership is tested in a world where every action connects across borders.
This course encourages you to see the world through a wider lens. The Future Entrepreneurs program is designed for motivated students eager to explore the dynamic world of business. Covering key areas such as entrepreneurship, marketing, and financial planning, it provides both the knowledge and the practical skills needed to thrive in a wide range of business environments.
The emphasis is on innovation and leadership. Students are encouraged to think both analytically and creatively as they tackle real business challenges, developing strategies that reflect the demands of modern industries. Workshops, case studies, and simulations offer a realistic insight into situations today’s business leaders commonly face.

Time to Shine Project
Bring Your Business Ideas to Life
In the “Time to Shine” project, you’ll apply what you’ve learned by creating a business plan or innovative solution to address a market need or social challenge. Whether you’re developing a sustainable business model, crafting a new tech solution, or designing a community-focused initiative, you’ll present your project to a panel of peers and instructors in a final presentation.
Past projects have included:
- EcoEnterprise: A sustainable business plan aimed at reducing waste in urban areas, showcasing innovative strategies to align profit with environmental responsibility.
This project provides an opportunity to put your business knowledge into practice, demonstrating your strategic thinking, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial creativity. You’ll gain valuable experience in making decisions, solving problems, and confidently presenting your ideas.
Activities
With the SBC courses at Eton College, our students can fully immerse themselves in a wide range of fun activities. The social program enables new friendships to be made naturally and with ease.
Students can choose from participating in high-energy mainstream sports such as football, basketball, swimming and volleyball based at Eton College’s recently redeveloped Sports and Aquatics Centre. There are also more relaxing activities on offer such as baking, arts & crafts, drama and music workshops.
The college’s proximity to Eton and Windsor provides our students with the opportunity to spend some of their free time exploring the local area in small groups. In addition, during their time with SBC at Eton College, students will take part in several whole school events such as tournaments, debating, a talent show and a disco. This helps develop key team working and communication skills whilst, most importantly, having fun!
Excursions
During a two-week course, students will go on three fantastic excursions to famous UK cities and popular tourist destinations, providing the opportunity to see some of the UK’s most famous attractions and landmarks.
To ensure our young learners make the most from their trip, SBC’s dedicated team of staff accompany the students and provide a full itinerary for the day.
During their stay, all students will visit London at least once. The program frequently includes visits to other famous locations, including one of the most famous university cities in the world – Oxford.

Accommodation
The accommodation at Eton College comprises two secure and comfortable boarding houses – one for boys and one for girls.
Students will have their own single study bedroom, with shared bathroom facilities.
Both boarding houses have comfortable social spaces and facilities in which students can relax during House Time.
The accommodation is managed by a dedicated team of residential staff which is always available to provide high-quality pastoral support and remain on call 24 hours per day.
