One reason Verbalists summer schools are so popular is because of the fun and creative activities. And when it comes to variety and excitement, our London Summer School at St Mary’s University is unbeatable. This summer, our students were in for a special bonus treat. They got to see Hugh Grant and a film crew shooting the next Bridget Jones’s Diary sequel right on campus!

VERBALISTS in ACTION: Unleashing Fun and Creativity
What makes our London Summer School so special? It’s the mix of laughter, learning, and unique experiences that our last group of young learners, who joined the program in late July, were lucky enough to enjoy. Their journey, filled with memories captured in the photos and videos, was set against the stunning backdrop of St Mary’s University. Our students not only honed their English skills but also took part in a wide array of fun and creative activities that are the hallmark of the Verbalists language learning summer schools and camps.

A Movie-Worthy Campus
Beyond the games and competitions, St Mary’s University is full of surprises. The campus is a favorite filming location for famous movies, and this summer, our students were in for a treat. They got to see Hugh Grant and a film crew shooting the next Bridget Jones’s Diary sequel right on campus! How many students can say their summer included a movie set experience?
Creativity
When it came to creativity, our students truly shined. The evenings were lit up with singing, dancing, and performances that could rival any talent show.
Karaoke night was a massive hit, with Tristan and Lazar taking to the mic alongside Marta and Laura, our talented students from Brazil, who wowed everyone with their incredible musical performances. We were so privileged to witness their talent. Iskra’s emotional song brought some of us to tears, while Tristan amazed us with private piano concerts at the Trinity Chapel – proof of how deeply these moments connect us.
And let’s not forget the “Trash Fashion” night, where creativity knew no bounds! With our group leaders Sanja and Paola leading their teams, students walked the runway proudly, showcasing their imaginative designs made from everyday items. It was a great way for everyone to express their creativity and have a blast together without feeling the pressure of being perfect.
Outdoor Adventures
The outdoor sports fields were always buzzing with activity – whether it was football, volleyball, or icebreaker games that had everyone, including our group leader Rada, along with students Iskra and Jana, jumping in. Even Lesley, one of the teachers, picked up some new tricks thanks to the students’ enthusiasm.
And when the weather didn’t cooperate, the fun continued in the gym, with Kevin impressing everyone with his basketball skills and the boys enjoying a lively game of football with friends from Turkey.
The real excitement kicked off with the outdoor games. Students took on huge inflatables, slippery slides, and quirky costumes; however, the game “It’s A Knockout” was the highlight.
This head-to-head challenge had students battling each other with inflatable sticks or cushions, knocking opponents off balance and sparking laughter all around. The game pushed everyone out of their comfort zones and created hilarious moments. Andrej and Gabriela emerged as individual champions, proudly winning their It’s A Knockout rounds. Watching our students unleash their playful side and hidden talents in this wild competition was priceless.
Indoor Activities
But the indoor fun was just as action-packed. The café area turned into a nightly gaming hub, with Kevin showing his moves on the Sony PlayStation, while Lav, our youngest student, beat everyone at table tennis – though it seemed like the older guys were sometimes going a bit easy on him! 🙂
Board games like Jenga, Battleship, and Twister brought endless laughs, and our students also got a chance to shine in other ways.
At our London Summer School, activities aren’t just an add-on – they are the heart of the experience. From outdoor games and sports competitions to creative fashion shows and karaoke nights, every day is packed with fun and excitement. St Mary’s University’s stunning campus provides the perfect backdrop for these unforgettable moments.
