English courses in Canada at ILAC, one of the most awarded English schools in the world.
Toronto
Toronto, a modern city and the financial center of Canada, is located on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. Centuries ago, this area was inhabited by Indigenous peoples who called it “taronto,” meaning “meeting place” in their language. The city, home to people from 80 nations speaking over 100 languages, still proudly bears that name.
Toronto showcases its multiculturalism through 18 ethnically diverse neighborhoods. Residents can explore areas such as Little India, Little Italy, Greektown, and even four Chinatowns.
In addition, Toronto boasts a vibrant stock market, fantastic modern architecture, excellent theaters, restaurants, unique museums, galleries, and shopping centers. Lake Ontario and the city’s 1,600 parks offer rest and relaxation to the residents of this bustling metropolis.

Language Courses
Classes are held in international groups with a maximum of 14 students. Courses begin every Monday. On the first day, participants take a diagnostic test to determine their appropriate class level. In addition to knowledge level, age is also considered when forming classes, ensuring that students are grouped with others of similar knowledge and age.
During the winter months, classes start at 8:45 a.m., and in the summer months at 8:30 a.m.
A Cambridge test is administered every other week to monitor learning progress.
General English Course
The General English course is offered from Beginner to High Inter-Mediate level, with programs of varying intensity:
- Intensive (26+4): This program consists of 30 weekly classes, with 26 hours dedicated to improving core language skills, fluent communication, discussions on assigned topics, and building students’ confidence. Additionally, 4 classes each week focus on practicing specific skills or grammar areas where students commonly make mistakes or need improvement. Options include grammar, vocabulary, writing, reading, pronunciation, and business English.
- Power English (30+8): This program includes the intensive course mentioned above, supplemented by an additional 8 lessons per week. It is designed for those looking to achieve maximum results in a shorter period of time.
Students take a practice Cambridge test every two weeks to measure their progress. This enables both teachers and students to assess their achievements and track improvement over time.
Cambridge Exam Programs (FCE, CAE, CPE)
The Cambridge Exam English course is offered from B1 to C2 level and comes in two attendance intensity options: 30 hours per week (intensive program) or 38 hours per week (Power English). In both options, 26 hours are dedicated to enhancing language skills, as well as grammar and vocabulary development, while 4 weekly hours focus on improving specific language challenges. Students who choose the Power English option receive an additional 8 lessons each week, maximizing their benefit from the program.
Numerous tests help develop the necessary skills to successfully pass the exam. In addition to regular classes, participants are expected to complete a minimum of two hours of independent study each week in the form of homework. Before starting each of the programs (FCE, CAE, CPE), students take a diagnostic test. Exam dates and prices are available upon request.
Preparation for TOEFL and IELTS
TOEFL and IELTS are used to assess the English language skills of individuals whose native language is not English. Most recognized foreign universities that teach in English require candidates to achieve a certain score on these tests, with each institution setting its own minimum requirements. Good results on the TOEFL or IELTS are also necessary for receiving scholarships and serve as proof of English proficiency.
If your knowledge is at least B1 level, you can choose one of these preparatory programs, which are organized as follows:
- Intensive Course (30 hours per week) or Power English (38 hours per week): Both programs combine a general English course (26 hours per week) focused on improving language proficiency and a specialized component dedicated to training and strategies for successfully passing the test.
Approximate costs are: TOEFL – 250 CAD (Canadian dollars), IELTS – 315 CAD.
Start dates for the programs and exam dates are available upon request.
Business English Course
The Business English course, offered in an intensive format (30 hours per week), combines general English with specialized classes related to business, finance, and preparation for the Cambridge BEC exam.
In the general English classes (26 hours per week), the focus is on improving language proficiency and building self-confidence. Four weekly classes are dedicated to mastering business and financial terminology through writing reports, making presentations, and analyzing business case studies. Participants are expected to devote at least 6 additional hours per week to independent project development and homework.
The Business English course is also available in the Power English format (38 hours per week), which includes an extra 8 hours of study each week to enhance grammar, business terminology, and English negotiation skills.
The program starts every second Monday of the month.
