Imagine two weeks of sun, friendship, and language learning in one of Spain’s most exciting cities. That was Zara Horjan’s experience at our Spanish in Valencia summer school with our exclusive partner, Españolé IH Valencia.
03-SEP-2025 | Zara, our 15-year-old student and talented triathlete from Croatia, made our day recently. Just after finishing our morning coffee, her email popped up — a wonderful surprise! 🤩 In it, she thanked us and shared her reflections on her two weeks at the Spanish in Valencia summer school with Españolé, even including a few photos. We are so grateful to Zara for letting us see Valencia through her eyes and for sharing such an unforgettable experience.
“First of all, thank you for everything — everything went perfectly. The camp was phenomenal, and I enjoyed every moment. I met people from all over the world who will remain my friends forever, tried a variety of Spanish food, and got to know Spanish culture.
Now let me describe how everything went.
I arrived in Valencia on Sunday and that first day I met my roommate and the rest of the group in the residence. When everyone had arrived, we had a welcome barbecue where we got to know each other and played various icebreaker games. The next day was the first day of school, which went excellently. We all went to school together, were placed in classes, and lessons began. The weekdays were roughly the same. Every morning we had lessons from 9:30 to 13:20 with a 30-minute break. After school, we returned to the residence for lunch, and after lunch, we had organized activities. Saturday was different — we went on a day trip to Alicante, which was beautiful. On Sunday, a new group arrived at the residence, and we got to know them as well. That was how the first week of camp went.
The second week was similar, except that on Friday, the last day of lessons, we received certificates for the Spanish level we had studied. My favorite activity of all was visiting the Oceanografic — a huge aquarium with sea animals from all over the world. The ticket also included a dolphin show, where the dolphins performed amazing tricks — it was incredible! Slowly, the time came to return to Croatia. That was the hardest and saddest day because I had to say goodbye to my new friends and hope that we will meet again someday.
This camp was one of the most memorable experiences of my life; I met new friends, learned Spanish, and explored the whole of Valencia.
I hope to go again next year because it was perfect and unforgettable.
Thank you once again, and below I included a few photos so you can see what it looked like. – Zara Horjan”
