School – Kaplan London Bridge

In London, this special program is delivered at Kaplan’s London Bridge School, located in an amazing five-story building with views of the Golden Hind and overlooking the River Thames. The school has a prime location, close to trendy Shoreditch, the Tate Modern and the hustle and bustle of Borough market.

You will study in groups of no more than 15 students across the three classrooms with interactive whiteboards, dedicated to 30+ students. 

All teachers have a level of education normally represented by a degree and they also have a CELTA or equivalent qualification. Some teachers also hold the higher level DELTA qualification, PGCE, or MA in applied linguistics.

Study 30+ program is ideal for dedicated students aged 30 years and older who wish to learn English in a professional and focused environment. You will follow Kaplan’s bespoke curriculum designed for career-driven learners with ambitious goals.

Study 30+ program students are not only studying English with likeminded learners in specialized classes, but also they can experience a range of exclusive social and networking events.

Program’s benefits:

• Enjoy different social activities to mainstream students, designed for professional individuals who want to make international connections and explore a new destination. Activities include networking events, wine and cocktail nights, gallery visits and more.

• Vote on which Specific Skills sessions you would like the teachers to run. Choose from English for Law, Marketing, Finance and more.

Kaplan International students learn through the communicative method of teaching. This means that classroom time is spent on using real-life, practical situations to focus on the four key language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Classroom activities reflect real situations, and are structured so students communicate as much as possible.

Courses

On their first day of class, students will take an English placement test on their grammar, writing, listening and speaking skills. Students will then meet the school staff and get an introduction to the school, facilities, courses and the local area. An individual timetable is received later in the day and the classes begin on the following day.

Every student learns at different speeds, however, on average, a student needs 10 weeks to move from one level to the next. At the end of the course, learners receive a Certificate of Attendance, which will show their language level, the dates on which they have studied and their attendance.

Courses available at the London 30+ school, include General English, Semi-Intensive and Intensive, Academic Year, IELTS preparation and Business, as well as one-to-one classes in a variety of subjects, including Medical English and Legal English.

Study 30+ includes a diverse social program designed to help you explore the city and build professional and personal relationships, through organized events and trips. Immerse yourself in the city’s rich culture and history: seek out unique and captivating art exhibitions, explore the bustling markets, or enjoy a drink and concert in the nearby neighborhood of Shoreditch.

Accommodation

Kaplan guarantees the same excellent standards for accommodation as they do for teaching. Accommodation is offered with host families or in student residences offered by the Scape, student accommodation brand, including residents at Canalside, Shoreditch, Canada Water and Wembley.

Homestay

Ideal for students who want to discover local culture and customs with a friendly host, in a home environment. Host families are usually based between zones one to four, with zones one and two being around a 20–45-minute commute from the Kaplan 30+ London Bridge location. This accommodation is on a half-board basis (breakfast and dinner). You can choose either a single or twin room, complete with a study space, free WiFi, with bed linen and towels provided. Laundry is included once a week. 

Student Residences
