School

The English summer school is run by St. Mary’s University, giving students the chance to experience life at one of England’s top universities. Founded in 1850, St. Mary’s is the oldest Catholic university in England, with a long tradition of excellent teaching and research.

The campus sits near the River Thames, and part of it includes the historic Strawberry Hill House. Classes and accommodation take place right on campus, in a setting that mixes history with a modern academic vibe.

The safe, green campus is perfect for sports and outdoor fun, and students even get a taste of movie-star life – Hugh Grant and a film crew shot a sequel to Bridget Jones’s Diary here!

Teachers are highly qualified and meet all the standards set by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA). Classes for minors take place in small groups of no more than 15 students, carefully organized by age and language level to make sure everyone gets the most out of their lessons.

Safety, Healthy Environment, and Support

Verbalists are known for making language learning easy through entertaining and engaging programs that captivate the youngest learners – both because of what they see and learn and the excitement and fun that awaits them every year. However, safety and support during education abroad are crucial, especially when it comes to minors.

Depending on the number of enrolled students, specific groups may have an experienced Verbalists companion for extra care and supervision throughout their stay abroad.

Security within the university campus is at the highest level, and all participants are under 24-hour supervision by the school/campus staff.

Fascinating Campus of St. Mary’s University

St Mary’s University in London provides a unique setting, combining the vibrancy of London with the safety of the campus, featuring outstanding sports facilities, a gym, green spaces, school restaurants, classrooms, and amphitheaters.

Accommodation is also within the campus, with one school representative per building overseeing the students. Unlike many other summer camps in London, St. Mary’s University summer school has at least one activity leader for every 10 students.

Not far from St. Mary’s University is Richmond, one of the most beautiful and prestigious areas in London, adorned with picturesque walks along the Thames and flower-filled pubs that come alive in the late afternoons and evenings.

Program

Classes are conducted in international groups with a maximum of 15 students per group. On the first day, students take a diagnostic test, and based on their level and age, they are assigned to appropriate classes.

The university has developed a specially tailored curriculum, making learning fun, effective, and extending beyond the classrooms.

The textbooks (included in the program price), created for 4 levels of English proficiency, creatively introduce young learners to everyday life topics.

The course includes 20 hours (15 hours per week), and at the end of the program, students receive a certificate indicating their acquired level of knowledge.

Activities and Free Time

The summer school is designed for young learners to learn English through context, using the language in real-life situations. Extracurricular and fun activities are carefully planned and play a central role in English language learning. They also aid students in adapting quickly to the international environment within and outside the school.

Attendance at activities is mandatory.

Sample Schedule of Classes, Activities, and Excursions – English Summer School in London

Only applicable to programs with a Verbalists group leader: During the two-week stay, one day (usually Sunday) may be an optional trip to Oxford, Cambridge, Brighton, or an additional day in London. Bus or train transport for a full-day trip to Oxford, Cambridge, or Brighton costs around £25-40.

Accommodation and Meals

Student accommodation at St Mary’s University campus is secure, with campus staff taking special care of its quality. Students are accommodated in single rooms with a private bathroom.

The residence provides bedding, as well as keys/cards for the room and building. Students should bring their towels. Bed linen is changed once a week, while rooms and bathrooms are cleaned five times a week.

Laundry machines are also available. Upon arrival, a deposit is left for potential damages (£60 or EUR80), which is returned upon leaving the accommodation.

The campus has 24-hour university security.

Full board is provided, and students eat in the campus restaurant. The food is excellent and varied. On days of full-day excursions, a lunch package is provided.

Program Dates and Prices

The program is conducted individually and with a group leader.

✅ It is a summer school that includes 14 full board days, or 14 overnight stays.

Program start dates: July 1, 15, and 29. The program ends on August 12.

⚠️ This is a very popular program for which the language network, as a long-term partner of the school, has secured a limited number of places in accommodation for each of the three offered terms. Therefore, we strongly recommend early enrollment.

The prices shown in the table do not include the cost of an airline ticket/group travel, and the airline ticket is purchased later, after the college confirms the enrollment of students and issues visa documents (if required).

The price includes

Group leader service (only applicable to programs with a Verbalists group leader), English language course, a rich program of daily extracurricular activities, seven full-day excursions with one included dinner at Hard Rock Cafe in London, textbook and complete teaching materials, diagnostic test at the beginning of the course, and a certificate upon course completion, accommodation in the school residence on a full board basis – 14 nights, travel insurance, and airport transfers (only in the case of group travel).

Although the program price already includes health/travel insurance provided by the school, participants can purchase additional travel insurance locally.

The price does not include

Registration fee £50, costs of obtaining a UK visa, payable directly to the British embassy, airfare, transfers, and related airport taxes.

IMPORTANT NOTE for the summer school with a group leader: The participant purchases an airline ticket through the travel agency engaged by the company PRODIREKT. In that case, the travel costs, in addition to the airfare, include the expenses of organized group travel and round-trip airport transfers.

The price of the airline ticket that the participant pays largely depends on when the participant made the purchase, so we recommend early enrollment in the program.
