The Summer German Language Camp in Vienna – a safe, high-quality, and fun environment for children ages 12 to 17 to learn German.

This summer, Verbalists Language Network takes you to Vienna for an exciting opportunity to learn German at one of the top language schools. We’ll also explore many of Vienna’s historic and cultural landmarks, including its stunning palaces, the Schönbrunn Palace maze, Belvedere Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and the Prater, the world’s oldest amusement park.

The School

Actilingua Academy, one of Austria’s top language schools, is situated near Belvedere Palace in a peaceful residential area surrounded by embassies. Founded in 1988, Actilingua is accredited by IALC and ÖSD (Austrian Language Diploma). Students have access to modern, air-conditioned classrooms and a multimedia library with 17 computers, along with free internet access.

This German language camp for ages 12-17 is held in a prestigious private school founded by Queen Maria Theresa, centrally located in Vienna, close to major landmarks and public transport. The campus features a large park where students can play sports like soccer, tennis, and volleyball during recreational activities.

Program – Classes & Activities

Classes

Students can choose from two course options: a standard German course with 20 lessons per week (from 9:00 am to 12:20 pm), or an intensive course with 30 lessons per week (from 9:00 am to 12:20 pm and from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm). Both options are taught in small groups of 8 to 15 students, and an additional 5 hours of recreational and cultural activities are included in the price.

The program length ranges from a minimum of two weeks to a maximum of five weeks.

Recreational Activities

The summer school includes a range of activities organized by the school: guided visits to Vienna’s palaces, museums, and other landmarks with teachers, sports, picnics, and evening events such as discos and parties. These activities, held in the afternoons and evenings, offer not only entertainment but also a chance to bond with school friends and practice German in real-life settings. Some activities are included in the program fee (four days a week), while others are available for an additional fee (see “not included in the price” section for details).

Expect around €35 per week for any optional tours and admission fees.

A full-day excursion to Salzburg/Wachau costs €90, and a half-day trip (e.g., to Laxenburg or Burg Kreuzenstein) is €50.

Students who are 15 and older will need a weekly public transport pass, costing about €30 (per week), which can be purchased upon arrival at the school.

Accommodation

The ActiLingua summer residence is located on campus, housing students aged 12-17. Verbalists Language Network has secured a limited number of superior-quality rooms for its participants. These rooms accommodate 3-4 students, feature a private shower, and have shared toilets on each floor. The standard rooms are for 4–6 students, have shared bathrooms, and due to limited availability, we can provide their prices once we receive the completed inquiry form, which can be downloaded here. Students should bring their own towels.

A €40 deposit is required upon arrival and is refundable on the last day, provided there is no damage.

The meal plan includes three meals a day. The campus provides 24/7 supervision and care for minors, and students cannot leave the campus alone without written permission from a parent or guardian.

Individual departures: July 5, July 19, July 26, and August 2

Absolute beginners: June 05 and July 19

Arrival at the camp is on Sundays, with departure on Saturdays. ⚠️ The camp will close on August 2.

Participants in the individual language program can arrange transportation independently or with assistance from Verbalists Language Network’s authorized travel agency.

Included in the Price

Selected German language course, 5 hours of extracurricular activities per week (four days a week), accommodation in triple and quadruple superior rooms in the student residence, full board, textbooks and all learning materials, a diagnostic test at the start of the course, and a certificate upon course completion. Free internet access is also provided.

Not Included in the Price

Registration fee of €100, airfare with associated airport taxes, airport transfers (€112 one-way), and local transportation in Vienna (approximately €17 per week).

If you would like unaccompanied minor service (UM) for your child, the school charges €60 one-way for transfers between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm (plus the cost of the airport transfer).

When comparing prices for summer German language schools, it’s important to note that, unlike programs like Munich Adventure, active BERLIN-Berlin College, or the Berlin Splash youth camp in Berlin, the summer schools in Vienna do not include half-day or full-day excursions in the program price. Therefore, you should budget €80 for a full-day excursion to Salzburg, €50 for a half-day trip to Laxenburg or Burg Kreuzenstein, and €27 per week for guided sightseeing tours.

German summer schools in Berlin include travel insurance in the program price, whereas for camps in Vienna, travel insurance must be purchased separately.
