A French course in Montpellier through the eyes of our student from Colombia — real experience, real connection
20-MAR-2026 | We are privileged to meet and work with students from across the world, and Julia from Colombia reflects the true global reach and character of Verbalists Language Network.
Juliana joined a four-week French course in Montpellier at our partner school, ILA (The Institut Linguistique Adenet), and when we spoke with her, she did not describe it as just “studying abroad.” It felt more personal than that.
She told us how quickly she settled into the student residence. Having her own room and bathroom gave her privacy, but what she appreciated more was the shared atmosphere. “You are never really alone unless you want to be,” she said. Students from different countries, casual conversations in the kitchen, making plans without overthinking it.
The residence was about a ten-minute walk from the school, which she liked. “It is close enough that everything feels easy,” she told us, especially being near the historic center and the everyday city life.
When she spoke about her French course , she mentioned the balance at ILA. Classes were structured, but not heavy. “You speak a lot,” she said, “and it does not feel stressful.” Teachers kept things moving, corrected her naturally, and created an environment where she felt comfortable participating from day one.
She also shared how the city itself helped. Montpellier felt lively but not overwhelming. “You hear French everywhere, but it is not intimidating,” she said. That made it easier to practice outside the classroom without hesitation.
Listening to Julia, it becomes clear that a French course in Montpellier is not only about lessons. It is about how quickly you start to feel part of something new — academically, socially, and personally.
Her story is a simple but honest reflection of what happens when the right student, school, and environment come together.
What “global” actually means is not a slogan — it is Juliana from Colombia building a life, even briefly, in Montpellier through the Verbalists Language Network.
