My LONDON language travel tours and fun workshops

Every summer, Verbalists Education & Language Network’s students explore the depths of secret London and wander around the top London museums and attractions while attending the popular My LONDON program. Well, we thought it would also be nice to prepare the list of the things to do in London for our students who will be taking English courses in London during the springtime.

April in London means that the city finally comes alive with warm weather, outdoor pursuits and a whole heap of energetic things to do, so we propose the following activities:

London Bicycles on tour

DISCOVER CENTRAL LONDON BY BIKE: Spring has sprung so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t hop on a bike. Even better, do it while admiring London’s most famous landmarks — join this guided cycle tour around the city for an afternoon of fun and fitness. You’ll see Big Ben, The London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace as well as the working City of London and playful West End. The bicycles are comfortable, tours are safe, and suitable for all abilities. £24/£22, 4 April & more dates, 10am, see more here

LEARN HOW TO SHOOT LIKE ROBIN HOOD (suitable for kids from age 14 to age 17 and adults): Ever fancied yourself as a bit of a Robin Hood? Join the hugely experienced 2020 Archery team for your first shooting experience. You’re guaranteed serious fun with bows and arrows & guidance from the best instructors who’ll take the time to get you up and running and see you hitting the target. These ‘get started in archery’ sessions are fun and easy-going. Most importantly you will be shooting safely throughout the experience and (relatively!) accurately by the end of the 1.5 hrs. Your instructor will also introduce you to some key archery expressions (ends, nocks etc). The experience will finish with you learning how to score and participating in a mini-competition. These sessions are held in one of two conveniently located venues in the London Bridge area. Learn a new skill and have fun doing it! See more here

MURDER MILE WALKS (of Soho’s Most Infamous Murders): So then — one mile, 18 murderers, 75 deaths — there’ve been some gruesome goings-on in Soho. Turn detective on this walking tour, as your tour guide unveils the bloodiest secrets of central London. £15, 3 April & more dates at 10am and 1pm, see more here

GRAFFITI & STREET ART WORKSHOP (suitable for kids from age 11 to age 17 and adults): Step into the underground art world and experience unique creative Graffiti & Street Art Workshop. Danny, a professional London Graffiti artist, will share his techniques and assist you in creating an art piece of your own. The Workshop will include a basic introduction into the use of spray paints, stencils and other typical graffiti art materials. You’ll also receive a basic art lesson in color theory and drawing. This incredible workshop really is a lot of fun, great for team building and also for trying out a new skill and something completely different. You don’t want to miss out! See more here

The Crazy Camden Pub Crawl

THE CRAZY CAMDEN PUB CRAWL: Famous as the former stomping ground of Amy Winehouse and Britpop bands such as Blur and Pulp – among many others – Camden is one of London’s liveliest neighborhoods for nightlife. Set just north of King’s Cross and Euston, the trendy district is your focus for this 6-hour pub crawl, where you will enjoy free drinks, live music, and guaranteed free entry into some of the city’s best pubs and clubs. Highlights include Proud, a club and photo gallery set in a 200-year-old horse hospital, where the stables have been turned into drinking booths. You will also go to the Blues Kitchen and Barfly, 2 of London’s best live music venues, as well as local favorite, The Wheelbarrow. The fun tours take place every day, ending at Proud from Monday through Thursday. On Fridays the crawl ends in Koko night club, set in a converted theater. You will get free entry as part of your ticket, and can enjoy live bands and DJs until the early hours of the morning. Join the tour on a Saturday night to see Camden at its most vibrant, and enjoy free entry to Soundtracks at The Monarch, Proud, and Barfly.
