Academic English program at the renowned Magdalene College (ages 16-25)
In the past decade, our students have enjoyed high-quality academic language programs in Toronto, Vancouver, Oxford, and Cambridge, specially crafted by the Verbalists Language Network for students aged 15-20. The academic program aims to enhance students’ English language skills through advanced lessons that combine English courses with elective subjects, participation in debates, and attending expert lectures.
You expect nothing but the best from the language network, and that’s why we are taking you to the best universities in the world. This time, we are heading to OXBRIDGE! Oxbridge is a popular term used to describe a group of prestigious universities in Oxford, part of the University of Oxford (OX), and those in Cambridge under the University of Cambridge (BRIDGE).
Cambridge
This relatively small British city is one of the world’s most recognized, renowned, and safest educational hubs. With 31 universities nestled in the city, Cambridge educates over 18,000 students annually, a testament to its quality and prestige. Numerous parks, typical English pubs, and narrow cobblestone streets add to the authentic atmosphere, creating the feeling of traveling through history and possibly encountering some of the world’s eminent scientists who were educated here.
Feeling inspired and motivated to turn learning English into an unforgettable experience? Who knows, perhaps next year, you’ll secure a spot at one of the University of Cambridge’s faculties. Now is the opportunity to explore them, choose your desired path, and study diligently. Verbalists will gladly guide your academic journey, starting with the academic program at the prestigious Magdalene College!
School

The language network exclusively collaborates with the leading British school Select English, established in 1991 and accredited by various global accrediting bodies such as the British Council and ISI.
Classes and accommodations take place at Magdalene College, one of the oldest, most famous, and beautiful colleges in Cambridge. Founded in 1428, the college gained the name the College of St Mary Magdalene during the reign of Henry VIII in 1542. Its most notable alumnus is the prominent 17th-century politician Samuel Pepys, whose unique library was donated to the college after his death and is now housed in the Pepys building, arguably the most beautiful part of the college.
Today, Magdalene College is one of the thirty-one constituent colleges of the University of Cambridge, located in the heart of Cambridge on the banks of the River Cam, visible from most rooms within the accommodation facilities. The delightful garden with a small church, the murmur of the River Cam, and the unique architecture of the university building will contribute to your outstanding experience, making you feel privileged to be part of the British educational fairy tale whose chapters have been written by Nelson Mandela, Nobel laureates Seamus Heaney, and John Gordon. Approximately 380 students enroll in undergraduate and 180 in postgraduate studies at this college each year.
The address is CB4 3AD Chesterton Rd, Cambridge, UK, and you can view it by clicking here.

Program
The professors are experienced lecturers, all holding the internationally recognized CELTA qualification for teaching.
Classes are conducted in small, international groups with a maximum of 12 students per group.
On the first day, students take a diagnostic test, both written and oral, and are then placed in classes according to their proficiency level. The class schedule comprises 20 hours (15 hours per week), and the teaching method is communicative, with each student actively participating in group work or pair activities. Throughout the program, you’ll notice a significant improvement in your confidence, accuracy, and fluency in using the language in everyday situations.
Project Classes
You will use English to work on a project together with your class mates. You can choose the focus of your project with help from your teacher. Popular projects include:
- Creating a school magazine
- Surveys of the school’s staff or members of the public
- Making a guide to Cambridge for future students
- Preparing a presentation on your hometown
Students receive a textbook and accompanying materials (included in the price), and at the end of the course, they receive a certificate indicating the completed program and the attained level of proficiency.
Activity Program

All Verbalists Language Network programs include carefully selected extracurricular activities and excursions tailored to the age group and program type, allowing students to enjoy an ideal combination of learning and active leisure during their studies.

Extracurricular activities within the Magdalene College academic program aim to acquaint you with student life in Cambridge. The school organizes a welcoming reception with strawberries and cream, a rich cultural, social, and sports program, and, finally, a traditional farewell dinner. At the end of the course, certificates are issued to students in a solemn ceremony in front of the Pepys Library.
In addition to the activities prepared by the school, you can organize your free time and enjoy this marvelous city on your own. We’re eager to hear how much you’ve come to love punting 🙂 and how this journey has influenced your personal development.
