South Bank Sites

From St. Paul’s Cathedral to the Tate Modern Museum, the Millennium Bridge connects the city of London with the south bank of the Thames, bridging old and new, traditional and modern. The Millennium Bridge tends to get called ‘the wobbly bridge’ because when it was first built there was a mathematical error in its design so it wobbled as people walked over it. They fixed it a few months later but everyone still calls it ‘The Wobbly Bridge’.

For art lovers no trip to London would be complete without a visit to the Tate Modern, Britain’s national gallery for international modern art. The Tate Modern is located in the Bankside area of central London and receives over 4 million visitors each year. Aside from the art exhibitions, the gallery also includes interactive activities, cafes, shops and a restaurant with one of the best views of London. Perhaps one of the best things about ‘The Tate’ is that it’s free to visit and even includes free guided tours. Although you do have to pay for some special exhibitions, this is a great way to enjoy London for free. The gallery opens at 10a.m. every day.
