Verbalists students at the Lignano beach - Italian summer camp

Italian summer camp in Lignano, a popular youth resort on the Adriatic Sea (ages 14-17). Explore the stunning eight-kilometer beach, engage in diverse sports and creative activities, and embark on enriching excursions to iconic cities like Venice and Verona.

Lignano

Welcome to the premier destination for a remarkable young learner Italian language experience in Lignano!

Lignano is a beautiful seaside town nestled between Venice and Trieste on the Adriatic Sea. It boasts one of the most stunning beaches in the northern part of the Adriatic region, stretching eight kilometers, earning the Blue Flag for quality every year.

Ideal for relaxation and entertainment, Lignano captivates visitors not only with its expansive sandy beach and lush pine forest but also with its fantastic amusement parks: the AQUASPLASH water park and the Punta Verde Zoo – a private zoo with over 1000 different species of animals in a natural environment within a vast complex.

Sabjadoro and Pineta are the two most renowned areas of this town. Sabjadoro, the historical center, is characterized by wide, golden sandy beaches, while Pineta is surrounded by a pine forest.

For young participants of the Verbalists Language Network, their stay in Lignano remains a cherished memory, and many attend this fantastic camp for several consecutive years.

School

This Italian summer camp takes place at the closed-type recreational center Villaggio Adriatico, organized by our longstanding partner, Linguaviva school.

Founded in 1976, Linguaviva was first declared the best language school in Italy in 2006 and subsequently won this title three times in a row – in 2009, 2010, and 2011. As proof of its expertise and high professionalism, it has received accreditation from the Italian Ministry of Education and the world-recognized ISO 9001 quality certificate. The school is also a member of the most important professional associations – ASILS (Associazione Scuole d’Italiano come Lingua Seconda), IALC (International Association of Language Centres), and NAFSA (Association of International Educators).

In addition to the summer school in Lignano, Linguaviva operates prominent language centers and young learner summer schools in Milan and Florence.

Program

The Italian summer camp is designed for participants aged 14 to 17. Classes and activity programs are tailored to the age group. One significant advantage of the camp is that classes take place in the same complex as accommodation.

The program is available for students from beginner to advanced levels. Participants attend a standard course in general Italian language in groups of up to 12 students, with a workload of 20 hours per week. Each class lasts 45 minutes, and the teaching method is communicative. Italian is learned through conversation, listening, reading, and writing.

On the first day of the camp, a diagnostic test is conducted, and based on the results, participants are assigned to appropriate groups. Classes take place in the morning (either in the classroom or outdoors, depending on the lesson topic), while afternoon and evening sessions are reserved for sports activities tailored to the interests of different age groups.

All sports activities are supervised by instructors who assist participants in developing sports skills and communicating more in Italian.

Activities & Excursions

Extracurricular activities are carefully planned and particularly important, as students, in an informal environment through sports and fun, practice Italian and make friends from around the world.

Every evening, the camp staff provides participants with a schedule of activities scheduled for the next day.

Afternoon activities are divided into two time intervals – from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm and from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Participants can choose which activities to participate in, with each activity supervised by camp staff.

Activities are thematically divided into three groups:

  1. Sports Activities: soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, beach volleyball, water polo, swimming, rollerblading (in smaller groups), aqua aerobics, etc. It’s also possible to reserve a tennis court (free of charge) or arrange horseback riding lessons for an additional fee (30 euros per hour).
  2. Creative Activities: cooking classes, T-shirt painting, costume and set design, handicrafts, etc.
  3. Beach Activities: enjoying beach games.

Evening activities include tours, organized visits to matches, open-air cinema, disco, beach parties, and themed events.

Upon request, additional activities can be organized, such as visits to amusement parks or shopping centers, with an additional charge (around 10 euros).

On Sundays, full-day excursions to Venice, Verona, and Trieste are organized. During these educational trips, participants may be assigned tasks to describe their impressions or interview passersby as part of a project presented later in class.

Excursions: VERONA, VENICE, GARDALEND, or TRIESTE (visits depend on the program’s start date).

  • The entrance ticket to Gardaland amusement park costs around 30 euros.
