Established in 1976 in Florence by Alessandro Vidoni, Linguaviva School is a pioneering institution dedicated to promoting the study of Italian in Italy among international students. Linguaviva stands out as a beacon of Italian education, offering diverse language courses not only in Florence but also in Milan and Lignano.

The school’s elegant 19th-century building in Florence is centrally located, near the main railway station, and serves as a welcoming hub for a global community of students, connecting individuals from over 60 countries.

Accredited by ASILS (the professional Association of Schools of Italian as a Second Language) and authorized by the Italian Ministry of Education, Linguaviva holds a significant position in the realm of Italian language education. The school serves as an examination center for the prestigious CILS certification by the Università per Stranieri di Siena and the PLIDA certification by the Società Dante Alighieri.

Linguaviva offers a diverse array of summer programs designed for juniors across three unique locations: Florence, Milan, and Lignano.

Florence invites you to immerse yourself in Italian language classes and a spectrum of cultural and artistic activities, all while experiencing the city’s beauty.

The Milan program focuses distinctly on understanding Italian academia and careers.

In Lignano, the program seamlessly integrates Italian language classes with invigorating sports and recreational activities along the picturesque beach.

Embark on an unforgettable experience with Linguaviva’s Italian Summer School for young learners (14-17 years). This carefully designed program offers a perfect balance of Italian language tuition, supervised sports, creative leisure activities, and excursions. Classes, conducted by highly qualified teachers selected for their experience with young learners, focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing in lively and informal small groups.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? – Tailored for practical aspects of Italian language learning, the course develops everyday communication skills, enhancing proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

LEARNING OUTCOMES – The Italian course aims to foster practical and communication skills. Through engaging lessons, students gain confidence, consolidate language knowledge, and achieve greater fluency.

LEVELS – Available for all levels, from beginner to advanced (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 of CEF). Beginners start with their first lesson, while those with prior knowledge take a placement test for group placement.

LEARNING MATERIAL – The school provides textbooks and additional learning materials, included in the program fee.

SCHEDULE – The program offers 20 lessons per week in 4 daily sessions, from Monday to Friday, either in the morning or afternoon.

GROUP SIZE – Each group accommodates a maximum of 14 students.

CERTIFICATE – Upon completion, Linguaviva issues a certificate indicating the course duration and the attained Italian language level.

Excursions & Activities

Excursions in Florence, Verbalists

The Italian Summer School for Juniors in Florence boasts a daily schedule of enriching cultural and leisure activities, all fully included in the program fee.

Full-day excursions to renowned Italian cities and iconic sites such as Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca, Cinque Terre, and seaside trips are organized on both Saturdays and Sundays—all under the escort of Linguaviva’s dedicated staff.

In addition to cultural visits to renowned landmarks such as the Uffizi Gallery, Accademia Gallery, Duomo, Santa Croce, and Santa Maria Novella, students engage in enjoyable sports, recreational activities, and creative workshops.

Balancing their Italian courses led by highly qualified teachers with these dynamic activities, students build lasting friendships and cultural understanding.

Accommodation

The school carefully picks homestay accommodations. Host families are used to having students from different countries and want to make sure guests feel happy and comfortable in their homes. Students get plenty of chances to practice speaking Italian with hosts and roommates.

All family hosts, carefully chosen by the school, ensure a welcoming and safe environment for our young learners, contributing to a faster Italian language learning experience through regular practice of language skills with the host family. Students typically share a standard room.

ROOMS – Standard rooms are shared (twin rooms), but single rooms are available upon request and based on availability. Supplement for single room accommodation: €80 per week.

MEALS – Hosting families provide breakfast and dinner, while the school takes care of lunch.

LOCATION – Host families are within walking distance or a maximum of 20 minutes by public transport from the school.

DATES – Accommodations are booked from the Sunday before the course starts to the Saturday after it ends.

⚠️ Upon arrival, students must pay a €100 damage deposit in cash directly to the homestay family. The full amount will be refunded at the end of the stay, provided no damage has occurred.

⚠️ Arrival for accommodation is always on Sundays, and departure is on Saturdays.

  • Safety and care: each organized activity is attended by our staff.
  • Insurance: each student is insured against accidents and unintentional damages caused to others

Not included in the price:

Registration fee of €80, and airfare.

⚠️ For most airlines, unaccompanied minor service (UM) is not required for students older than 12. It is therefore not included in the program fee, but can be requested if needed for an additional charge of €40.

A contract is signed directly with the school, and a place is confirmed after a deposit or the whole course fee is settled.
