Technique, tactics, tournament pressure and one very familiar coach. We visited our Verbalists players at Radley College for another close-up look at a top international tennis camp.
22-AUG-2026 | This summer, Verbalists players attended NIKE Tennis Camps at both Radley College and Bradfield College. While visiting our students in England, we made sure to stop at Radley, where David, our Verbalists player from Spain, was training.
When we asked David what he liked most, his answer was not about one particular drill or match. It was being surrounded by tennis from morning to evening, with players from different countries who were just as into the game as he was, plus the close personal attention from the coaches. That, he told us, was what made this NIKE tennis camp different.

And there was another familiar face waiting for us on court: Gill Lemore. It was great to see him again.
We have known Gill for more than 15 years. A former ATP Tour player and highly experienced performance coach, he has been one of the key figures behind the NIKE Tennis Camps in the UK for years and a guarantee of the high-quality tennis training.
At Radley, training is not simply about hitting hundreds of balls.
Players work on court positioning, movement, grip, spin, shot selection and knowing when to use a particular shot, while technical sessions are mixed with tactical exercises, fitness and conditioning. There are competitive drills, short-set matches and constant feedback from coaches.
And sometimes the best coaching happens one-on-one. We filmed Gill working individually with one of the youngest players on court, making small corrections, repeating the movement and giving him the kind of personal attention that can make a real difference.
And then comes the tournament
From our long experience visiting elite sports camps run by our partners at Euro Sports Camps, we know that tournaments are one of the best parts of the program.
That is when technique meets pressure.
There is an opponent, a score, nerves and no coach feeding you the next ball. Players have to read the match, adapt and make their own decisions.
And this summer at Radley, the talent on display was top.
Of course, the experience is bigger than tennis. Players arrive from different countries, train and compete together, then spend the rest of the day together. English quickly becomes the language of the court, the dining hall and new friendships.
Very much a Verbalists kind of summer.
