Seventeen-year-old Graysen Stockton came from Florida to Milan excited to attend two design courses, meet new people, and discover whether Interior Design could be the right academic path for her.
After speaking with Graysen and her parents, PRODIREKT and Verbalists Education recommended combining two courses at Raffles Milano: Product Design and Interior Design.

The purpose was not simply to give her an additional week in Milan — although Graysen loved that too. 🙂
Taking both courses allowed her to explore design from two different angles. In Product Design, she worked on objects, function, sketching, and design software. Interior Design introduced her to space, light, materials, and the way an environment can affect how people feel.
At 17, choosing a future study direction from websites and course descriptions alone is not easy. Graysen was able to try both fields, work on practical assignments, and begin discovering which kind of design feels more natural to her.
By her second week, Graysen felt that she had already learned a great deal, particularly about design software and sketching.
There was also time for Milan evenings, and some serious Italian gelato research.
She also spoke about the friends she had made, the memories they had created together, and one feeling that probably says as much as anything else about her summer: “I love Milan, and I don’t want to leave anytime soon.”
Beyond the Raffles Studio
The experience also took Graysen outside the classroom.

A visit to La DoubleJ offered another perspective. The group began at the brand’s boutique on Via Sant’Andrea and continued to its headquarters, learning more about the creative thinking, homeware collections, and business behind its recognizable visual identity. The visit ended with a meditation session on the company rooftop — probably not an activity Graysen expected to find on a design course, but precisely the kind of moment that made her Milan experience different.
